If you hold an (ISC)² certification, you are required to earn as many as 40 Continuing Professional Education (CPE) credits per year. For example, the CISSP requires the greatest number of CPEs:

CPE Type Annual Requirement 3-Year Total
Group A 30 90
Group A or B 10 30
Total Required 40 120

The table identifies both group A and B CPEs, but what is the difference? Group A credits are directly related to the cyber security profession, whereas group B credits are for professional development and knowledge sharing.

There are a number of methods of earning CPEs such as online and in-person events, educational resources, and volunteering. More information on CPEs can be found at (ISC)² What are CPE Credits and Why Do I Need Them?”
